David Wagner says his side will move on quickly to their next match

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner believes his players are capable of getting the win they need to all but guarantee Premier League safety, despite their 2-0 loss to Everton.

That defeat leaves Huddersfield just three points above the relegation zone in 16th place with only three games left to play.

And the Terriers' final three fixtures are at champions Manchester City and Champions League-chasing Chelsea, before a last-day clash at home to sixth-placed Arsenal.

Wagner, however, is confident his side can pull off a shock result between now and the end of the campaign in their bid to beat the drop.

"We are disappointed because we started the first half well and we were able to take the momentum from the last game, we were aggressive, we brought intensity into the game and we limited them in the first half to one shot," he said.

Huddersfield 0-2 Everton

"Unfortunately, this one shot on target was a goal and we were not able to use our half-chances, which we had.

"Second half was not as good as the first half, but in the end we got beaten by quality, something that we have to accept.

"And now we continue and look forward to the next three opportunities which we have. We were not able to use the first match point, and we have three further ones, against top teams of course.

"But a lot of teams have shown they have been able to collect points against the top teams as well, even we have done it.

"And we have to do it in the next three games as well because I think we need further points."

Wagner wants his team to use their surprise 2-1 win against Manchester United in October as inspiration for their last three encounters, starting against City at the Etihad a week on Sunday.

"We have seen that we are capable of doing it, because we have done it - not very often, but we have done it once and if we do it one more time, this will be enough I think," he said.

"A lot of opponents have done it this season as well. In every game you have an opportunity and we will fight for every opportunity.

"This is the nature of our DNA, this is how the Terriers will deal with this situation. But it is not done, like it was not done last weekend in a positive way, it is not done today in a negative way.

"It is all about us, we have it in our own hands and we have to collect points."
