Huddersfield are in talks to sign Montpellier forward Steve Mounie for a club record fee, according to Sky sources.
The Terriers broke their transfer record earlier this week to sign Belgium forward Laurent Depoitre from Porto and Sky Sports News HQ understands talks to bring Mounie to the club are progressing well.
Montpellier coach Michel Der Zakarian claimed on Monday that Mounie had already left the club and was set to undergo a medical in England.
"Steve Mounie has left. He will have a medical before signing in England," Der Zakarian said.
Montpellier chief executive Laurent Nicollin added: "Steve's case is an opportunity for him and for us."
The 22-year-old, a product of the Montpellier academy, enjoyed an impressive 2016/17 campaign, netting 14 goals and providing three assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances.
Mounie, who has also attracted interest from West Bromwich Albion and West Ham, has represented Benin at international level, scoring once in five appearances.
