Northampton manager Rob Page is relishing EFL Cup tie at home to Manchester United

Northampton manager Rob Page has told Sky Sports News HQ he cannot wait to pit his wits against Jose Mourinho in the EFL Cup.

The League One side beat West Brom 4-3 on penalties on Tuesday night to earn the right to host Manchester United on the week beginning September 19.

Town have now extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 26 games and they will be looking to continue that form when they host three-time European champions United at Sixfields next month.

Page said: "I'm delighted with the way the draw has turned out and I just hope we can go out and give a good account of ourselves.

"As a player coach or manager this is why you play the game. I was fortunate to be involved in a couple of good cup runs during my time as a player at Sheffield United and I just hope the players enjoy this the same.

"You want to be involved in big games against the biggest sides and this game certainly falls into that category.

"It'll be a fantastic experience for myself. I have only been in the management game a couple of years and it's one that we are really looking forward to it.

"We played really well against West Brom and Tony Pulis was first class afterwards and came in to my office for a drink. Thankfully we managed to put our penalties away and there we are.

"Kenji Gorre (who scored the decisive penalty) was at Man United as a kid and he was excellent the other night and showed true character to take that winning penalty.

"Even though we're unbeaten in the league we have had too many draws and we have got to take the confidence from the cup into the league."
