A late Wes Burns own goal saw Fleetwood lose their perfect start to the League One season and hand Doncaster their first win under Darren Moore.
Goals from Cameron John and James Coppinger saw Doncaster turn the tables after Conor McAleny had given Fleetwood an early lead, only for substitute Paddy Madden to draw the visitors level.
Fleetwood took a deserved lead in the 10th minute when McAleny headed home from close range after Ian Lawlor had parried Jordan Rossiter's initial effort.
Doncaster looked rattled but were level nine minutes later when Wolves loanee John slammed in from a corner.
The goal lifted Doncaster who began to look the more dangerous side. Coppinger put Doncaster ahead in the 40th minute, curling into the top corner from the left edge of the box.
Fleetwood equalised 11 minutes after the restart when substitute Madden drew a stunning reaction save from Lawlor but reacted quickest to head in at the second attempt.
Neither side looked as though they would break the deadlock, but Burns sliced his attempted clearance from a Coppinger free-kick into his own goal in stoppage-time to give the hosts all three points.
