Garry Monk insists he is not focusing on European qualification despite the 1-0 win at Arsenal putting them just a point off seventh.
Substitute Bafetimbi Gomis' second-half header proved enough to clinch all three points for Monk's men on Monday Night Football against the run of play as the Gunners dropped three points behind Manchester City in the race to finish second.
Finishing seventh would see them qualify for the Europa League if Aston Villa do not win the FA Cup against the Gunners on May 30, but Monk said he was not focusing on Europe yet, but would see how the last two games of the season pan out.
He told Sky Sports: "I don't focus on that. What will be will be and we'll just keep pushing.
"I said that before the the game, over the weekend, the good thing about playing on Monday night was that we saw the results and that the places above us had opened up with the results, so why shouldn't we be pushing for that? Why shouldn't we be pushing those teams above and go on the hunt for them?
"I think today showed exactly what we're about and how we think about each game and we'll take the next two games and whether that takes us, then great... if not we'll have to assess again in the summer."
Monk said he came to the Emirates with a gameplan, and succeeded at playing at their own strengths.
"Yeah it was the plan we set up with. I decided to go that way with the players, we worked all week at it.
"We could have gone toe-to-toe with Arsenal but the players they had could have hurt us."
