Rodgers delighted with efforts of matchwinner Darren
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers hailed matchwinner Darren Pratley following the 1-0 win over Reading.
The midfielder netted his fourth Championship goal of the season in the 65th minute when he fired into the bottom corner.
Rodgers said: "Darren is terrific and it was a wonderful finish. We had worked to get Angel (Rangel) in around the back and it was a great ball and a clever movement to get him free.
"He headed across goal and it looked an easy finish but when you look at the replay again it's a strike of wonderful technique and great power.
"The goal will give Darren fantastic confidence. He's a player I have great belief in and he is the ultimate professional.
"It would have been easy for me to throw him to the garbage because he hasn't signed a new contract, forget about him and play others.
"But it's very important in life that you feel valued. Hopefully he feels rewarded for that belief. It's what you have to do as a manager and show the players you care about them.
"The other players love him here and he's a wonderful player. I'm really happy for him because I know how much it means to him to play for this club."
Poor finishing
Reading manager
Brian McDermott, who saw his side suffer their first Championship defeat in nine games, felt the Royals deserved at least a point from the game, and blamed poor finishing.
He said: "We feel hard done by. We had opportunities to win the game nevermind draw or lose it.
"We weren't ruthless enough in front of goal and the referee didn't help us when he didn't give us the penalty when their player handballed Jimmy's cross. I can't believe we have left here empty-handed.
"We feel we are a match for anyone in this league. It's disappointing the run has ended and we are really gutted to lose.
"I thought we were still going to get something even late on. Simon Church had a header which unfortunately went just over.
"We felt we did a good job on Swansea. When you come away from home against a team like Swansea, you have to give them great respect.
"We did our homework and knew they were a decent side but we had good opportunities. I thought we'd seen them off but Pratley finished well."
