Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal says it will be harder to stay in the Premier League if they fail to sign new players.
Swansea have failed to bring in any players in the January transfer window, but Carvalhal maintains they can still stay in the top division without new signings.
The Swans are bottom of the Premier League, level on points with West Brom following their 1-0 win over Liverpool last week.
Caravalhal said: "We need players to be better, but if we don't sign new players I believe we can stay in the Premier League.
"It will be more harder (without new players) but let's fight and try to achieve something.
"I read some comments that people say 'the manager doesn't need players...', I never said that."
"I need players but if nobody comes do I believe we can stay in the Premier League? Of course! If I don't believe who will believe?" he added.
One player close to leaving Swansea is Roque Mesa who is in Spain to have a medical before completing a loan move to Sevilla.
He moved to Swansea from Las Palmas last summer for £11million.
When asked about the move by Sky Sports News, Carvalhal was not prepared to confirm the latest developments.
"It's not official, I can't comment. You can ask me about transfers but I just talk about official things."
