Paul Clement says he's very satisfied after Swansea surpassed 40 points and moved up two places after securing their top-flight survival last weekend

Paul Clement says Swansea are "starting to get their identity back" after they rounded off their season with a 2-1 win against West Brom.

The Swans escaped relegation from the Premier League with a game to spare and ended a tumultuous campaign, that saw two managerial changes, on a five-game unbeaten streak.

The surge to safety was mostly under the guidance of Clement, who believes the club are starting to rediscover their style and should take it into next season.

"The objective for me was clear when I came here," he told Sky Sports. "First of all to get some confidence in the team, to get them performing.

"But the number one aim was to keep the team in the division and 17th place would have been fine, but we surpassed expectations on the way and started to get the identity of the team back.

"We were supported brilliantly by the fans and I'm very happy that they can go away with us in a much healthier position in the end.

"Our Premier League survival had already been sorted out last weekend but we wanted a positive performance and result this weekend and we got it.

"I'm very satisfied that we've broken the 40-point mark and have gone up two places to finish 15th so it is very satisfying.

"We have got to work hard every week because margins at this level are so fine, you have to be absolutely focused every week.

"I'm very happy with the players and the focus, concentration and sacrifice they have made since I've been here. Of course, we want to get better and we have to try and do that next season."

Fernando Llorente once again proved his worth to Swansea as he scored an 85th-minute winner on Sunday afternoon after Jordan Ayew had cancelled out Jonny Evan first-half header with his first Swans goal in the 72nd minute.

Gylfi Sigurdsson also had a hand in the first goal, with Llorente flicking on the Iceland international's free-kick for Ayew to score, but Clement was quick to praise his whole squad when asked about the starring duo.

"It has been a collective effort from everybody, even those who haven't played as much because they are the ones every day who are pushing hard in training, making the sessions nice and intense so everybody gets the best out of them. There are lots of things to be happy with," he added.
