Jamie Carragher was not surprised to hear the breaking news that Swansea have sacked manager Bob Bradley after just 11 games in charge

Jamie Carragher says it was "inevitable" that Swansea would sack Bob Bradley and believes the club made the correct decision before the January transfer window.

The American was appointed in October following the departure of Francesco Guidolin but was sacked on Tuesday after managing just two wins from 11 games in charge, with Swansea currently sitting 19th in the Premier League table.

A 4-1 defeat at home to West Ham on Boxing Day proved to be Bradley's last game in charge at the Liberty Stadium and Sky Sports pundit Carragher believes the club made the correct call ahead of a crucial transfer window.

"I thought it was inevitable, I think they had to make that decision," Carragher said. "The decision was questioned when he first came in. New to the league, Premier League experience, the American owners.

Bob Bradley's time as Swansea manager in his own words

"It is the right decision, there is no way you can let that man go to January and buy players if you have no belief in him, the players don't or the supporters, who I think booed them off [after West Ham loss]. You can't lose 4-1 at home to a relegation rival, the run that they are in."

Carragher says Swansea's managerial woes go back further than Bradley, however, and questioned the sacking of Garry Monk, who had guided the Swans to eighth in the Premier League in his first full season in charge at the club.

However, he left the Liberty Stadium in December 2015 after a run of one win in 11 Premier League matches.

"This Swansea thing goes back further than this now, I think even with the Garry Monk decision and bringing Guidolin in. He did well to be fair, he kept them up, but it felt like Swansea had then gone away from what they were about," Carragher said.

"I think he [Monk] got the highest Premier League finish they had ever got in his first season as a manager. I think he had a 10-game spell where it didn't go quite well for him but a new manager gaining experience, that happens in the Premier League.

"Guidolin kept them up but there is no doubt then they had gone away from what they were about. The big thing for me - I couldn't believe Swansea sold Ashley Williams in the summer, I couldn't believe it. I tipped them to go down."
