Francesco Guidolin said he was happy to help Swansea reach Premier League safety after Sunday's 3-1 victory at home to Liverpool and he wants to remain as boss for next season.
Andre Ayew scored twice as the Swans comfortably saw off a much-changed Reds side, with Jack Cork adding to the tally with a fantastic curler.
Christian Benteke netted for Liverpool, but they ended the game with 10 men after Brad Smith was sent off. The result saw the south Wales side move up to 13th with 43 points.
Guidolin - who was hired in January following the departure of Garry Monk with the aim of steering Swansea to safety - was happy to see out the job.
"I am happy because we were safe three weeks ago, but not mathematically. To have 40 points with five games to go, it is an important result," the Italian manager said.
"Now we have 43 points, which is important. It is not much but it is a good result. We have two more games and today I am happy and I think I've done my job very well. I say thank you to my players, my assistant and my staff.
"It is my first time in the Premier League and it was not easy because the season for Swansea was not easy. It was not easy to begin a part of my career with four months in front of me and difficult fixtures but when we finish, I am proud of my job."
There has been no word yet on the future of Guidolin at the helm in Wales, but he has said he wants to stay if chairman Huw Jenkins will have him.
"I say many times I want to stay and the chairman knows that. We have spoken about next season, but I do not know if I will be here. It is not my decision," added the 60-year-old Italian.
"I am waiting and if it's a yes, then I'm happy and if it's a no, then it's a long holiday. That's not a problem.
"I think the chairman was planning for next season before three weeks ago, when we won against Chelsea with 40 points. Now, it is mathematically possible to stay up and it is a better situation. The club is ready to play next season."
