Alan Curtis says Swansea 'gifted' Bournemouth goals as the Cherries edged a 3-2 thriller

Swansea coach Alan Curtis blamed individual errors for his side's 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday.

The south Wales club twice came from behind to draw level, Mo Barrow and Gylfi Sigurdsson on target for the Swans, before Steve Cook's header 12 minutes from time condemned them to defeat.

And Curtis, again taking charge of the side in the absence of head coach Francesco Guidolin, who is recovering from illness, felt his side were the architects of their own downfall.

"I thought we gifted them three goals really, obviously the last one being a set piece, I thought they were individual mistakes," he said.

"We got ourselves back in the game and we created chances but unfortunately today was not our day at our end of the pitch. I haven't seen them back but they were really poor goals [to concede] I thought. You can't gift teams goals, certainly at this level.

"It's difficult to legislate for individual errors and the team itself were fine. It's just something that happens but, unfortunately, today it cost us dearly."

The result means Swansea remain on 33 points, eight clear of the relegation places, and take on bottom club Aston Villa at the Liberty Stadium next Saturday.

"Forty points is what we're aiming for and when we get to 40 points, if we get to 40 points, we'll push on from there," added Curtis, who confirmed Guidolin will return to the touchline next weekend.

"Obviously it depends what other teams do as well, we're in a good position but there's still an awful lot of work to do.

"After today it just means that there's a little bit more work. It's Villa at home on Saturday and that's a massive game for us."
