Alan Curtis gives his reaction to the win over Watford

Alan Curtis thinks new head coach Francesco Guidolin will have been "pleasantly surprised" by Swansea's performance in their 1-0 win over Watford.

Ashley Williams scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute as Swansea moved out of the Premier League relegation zone with a precious victory.

Guidolin watched the match from the stands and will take charge for the rest of the season along with interim manager Curtis.

"I think he would be more than pleasantly surprised with what he saw," Curtis told Sky Sports. "He has bags of experience in Italy and he's probably someone we need, someone who is an experienced leader.

"As a management team, we have done as well as we could, we put in some good performances but unfortunately the results haven't been there. If he can get the performances and results that's what we are looking for."

Brendan Rodgers and Jamie Carragher discuss the qualities of Swansea captain Ashley Williams

"It was a little bit tense in the second half, we could have done with a second goal and maybe then we could have established a bit of supremacy, but it was a huge three points and credit to the players.

"The crowd played a huge part too. They defended every ball into the box as well. Everybody is delighted; it's the start of a long road until the end of the season."
