Swansea manager Alan Curtis says he is unaware of any altercation between midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and a supporter at Oxford United on Sunday afternoon.

In the wake of Swansea's 3-2 upset at the hands of the League Two side in the FA Cup, England international Shelvey went over to applaud the visiting fans.

But, according to newspaper reports, Shelvey reacted angrily to abuse from a Swansea supporter, gesturing back at the fan before walking off the pitch.

"The suggestion is some of crowd were having a go at him. I heard the crowd sing his name a few times during the game, so I don't know what the reaction was."

Shelvey, 23, has endured a somewhat frustrating season at Swansea with Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing him.

However, Curtis told Sky Sports: "There is always speculation.

"With Jonjo, because he is not currently in the Premier League side, and the fact that he is an England international, there is always going to be speculation as to whether he is going to move on.

"But I speak to Jonjo regularly, he wants to stay. He wants first team football, it is a big season, coming up into the Euros.

"We can't quite guarantee him first team football at the moment but he has certainly got enough ability to play a big part for us."
