Play-off chasing Bradford slumped to their fifth-consecutive League One defeat as they went down 2-1 against struggling Oldham at Boundary Park.
The home side had not won in nine previous games but a stubborn defensive performance earned three welcome points in their battle against relegation.
Latics swept into a 12th-minute lead when full-back Cameron Dummigan ran at the visiting defence and launched a spectacular 25-yard drive into the top corner.
Dan Gardner almost doubled their advantage midway through the first half, but Bradford goalkeeper Colin Doyle tipped his looping header over the bar.
Doyle made a fine save to deny Wolves loanee Duckens Nazon after the striker burst clear and fired towards the bottom corner.
Bradford posed little attacking threat until the 65th minute when Callum Guy drove wide from the edge of the 18-yard box.
It was 2-0 after 86 minutes as Ryan McLaughlin crossed from the left and fellow substitute Aaron Holloway headed in from eight yards.
The visitors responded two minutes later when Oldham stopper Johny Placide made a hash of Jordon Gibson's near-post shot, but Dominic Poleon wasted their final chance as the hosts claimed their first league win of the year.
