Nicklas Bendtner missed a great chance to give Nottingham Forest a win at Rotherham on Wednesday

Nicklas Bendtner missed the chance to make himself an instant hero with Nottingham Forest's fans after passing up a gilt-edged opportunity to earn his new side all three points against Rotherham United on Wednesday night.

The Denmark international frontman only moved to the City Ground on a two-year deal earlier this month having had his contract terminated by previous club Wolfsburg in April.

And Bendtner was introduced to make his Forest debut just before the hour-mark at the New York Stadium with the home team leading 1-0 at the time.

However, the visitors soon turned the match on its head to lead 2-1 with just minutes remaining, before Jon Taylor levelled up matters right at the death, although Bendtner was then given the chance to win Forest the contest.

Rotherham goalkeeper Lee Camp brilliantly kept out Henri Lansbury's shot, but from the rebound and with the goal gaping, Bendtner could only strike the post.
