Luke Steele returned to English football from Panathinaikos in one of three late Deadline Day signings for Bristol City.
The 32-year-old former Manchester United goalkeeper has spent the last three seasons in the Greek Superleague, having left Barnsley in 2014, but has now penned a one-year deal at Ashton Gate.
"Luke has plenty of Championship experience and has played in plenty of big games, including in Europe," manager Lee Johnson said after completing the signing.
"He's still young for a goalkeeper at 32 and is very mobile and agile."
Rory Holden and Tyreeq Bakinson also joined the Sky Bet Championship club on Deadline Day.
Northern Irishman Holden, 20, has made the switch from Derry on a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
Bakinson, meanwhile, has penned a three-year contract at Ashton Gate following his departure from Luton.
Both players will join up with Bristol City's development squad.
