Rochdale midfielder Callum Camps was left red-faced after leaving his car lights on during his side's match against Gillingham on Tuesday.

Camps was inadvertently informed of his error by Rochdale's stadium announcer, who was reading out the car's licence plate in an effort to find the owner.

After realising it was his own vehicle, Camps had to signal club officials to sort out the issue midway through the first half of the game.

However, the problem did not seem to affect Camps who went on to open the scoring for his side in the Sky Bet League 1 match at Spotland.

"I was listening because the ball was out of play, and as soon as I heard the reg I was thinking that's my number plate," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"I thought I'd blocked someone in, so I said to [team-mate] Jamie Allen: 'That's my car that' and he said: 'What?' I said again: 'That's my car they've just called out'.

"I looked over to Kevin Gibbins and said: 'My car's just been read out, can you sort it out?'"
