Former Rotherham manager Steve Evans is expected to replace Uwe Rosler as the manager of Leeds United imminently.
He was at the Championship club's Thorp Arch training ground on Monday morning after news of Rosler's dismissal broke.
Evans also oversaw a training session and a quick appointment is anticipated as owner Massimo Cellino seeks his sixth manager since he took over in April last year.
The Italian has been quoted as saying he has chosen Evans because he wants a tough coach and he felt Rosler was taking the club backwards
Evans has been out of work since last month, when he and his assistant Paul Raynor left New York Stadium due to a difference of opinions with the club's owners.
The Scotsman had managed Rotherham for more than three years after previous stints at the helms of Boston United and Crawley Town.
Raynor - who also assisted Evans during his time with Crawley - was with the 52-year-old at Leeds' training base.
Rosler was relieved of his duties on Monday morning after recording just two wins in 11 league matches since his appointment in the summer.
Leeds were also eliminated from the Capital One Cup by League One side Doncaster under his guidance.
In addition to Rosler's dismissal, assistant manager Rob Kelly and first-team coach Julian Darby were placed on gardening leave.
Leeds have lost their last three games and were beaten 2-1 at home by Brighton at the weekend, conceding an 89th minute goal to Bobby Zamora.
As well as leaving them 18th in the table, the result extended United's time without a home win to seven months, the longest in their history.
Brian McDermott, Dave Hockaday, Darko Milanic and Neil Redfearn are the other four managers who have worked under Cellino at Elland Road.
Incredibly Rosler - despite being in charge for just a dozen fixtures - is the second longest serving of the group behind Redfearn, who had 37 games in total.
Leeds - who confirmed Rosler had left via their Twitter account on Monday morning - have announced they will release a full statement later in the day.
