Marco Silva said he wants more from Hull after they put in a spirited performance but were ultimately beaten 2-0 at Chelsea on Sunday.
It was far from one-way traffic at Stamford Bridge as the relegation-threatened Tigers battled hard against the Premier League leaders.
Goals from Diego Costa and Gary Cahill saw Chelsea come out on top, but the visitors had a few chances and were denied a penalty when Marcos Alonso kicked the heel of Abel Hernandez with the score at 1-1.
"The result is not what we want," Hull head coach Silva told Sky Sports. "We came here to compete and try to take points, Chelsea are in a very good moment but we tried, and we controlled the game in some moments.
"Chelsea had more possession and more offensive football but when you concede a goal in the last minute of the first half, it's cheap, because if you come in at half-time and change situations, maybe the performance is different.
"It was a good reaction in the second half, with one or two chances to change the score. A good performance, but I want more."
Not only did Hull feel they should have had a penalty when Hernandez was tripped by Alonso, but there also looked to be a foul on the striker in the build-up to Chelsea's opening goal, scored late in first-half injury-time by Costa.
"I don't know about the foul," said Silva. "My players said yes, and said it's a penalty in the second half, but I don't know.
"We have made some mistakes, you do that, but we need to continue our work to change some things at the club.
"I am happy with our performance, but not the result. I want more and I am sure we will improve in the next week."
There were nine minutes of injury-time in the first half after Ryan Mason had to be taken off on a stretcher following a head collision with Gary Cahill.
"I don't have news, he is in hospital," said Silva.
The Hull boss also said he needs to check on Curtis Davies, who was taken off with injury on the hour mark.
