New Hull boss Marco Silva has revealed that there is 'great spirit' at the KCOM Stadium after his side ran out comfortable 3-1 winners against Bournemouth in his first Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
Bournemouth had taken the lead when Junior Stanislas smashed home a penalty inside five minutes, but two goals from Abel Hernandez and a Tyrone Mings own goal secured the impressive comeback that earned the Tigers a first league win in 10.
Silva has been in charge for less than two weeks, but has already overseen both a league and an FA Cup victory in three games and - speaking to Sky Sports after the game - says that his players are beginning to believe in the methods he has brought to the club.
"Of course I am happy - we worked for this situation to happen, to win the game. There’s a fantastic spirit in my team. The players believe more in our ideas and we will continue to believe - we really deserve this victory..
“I have started to see [the work I have put in] but I haven’t had a lot of time as I’ve only been here 10 days. In these 10 days we have played three games but we have time next week to work more.”
Next up for Hull is a challenging trip to the capital to face Chelsea, but Silva is optimistic and says that points will motivate his players, as will the competition of having new players in the squad.
He added: “We need to points to go up in our performance - to go up in the table also. I am happy because we have won, but if we go up in the table that is better.
"We are starting to have more competition because having new players for our squad is important. Abel is an important player for us - like the others. I am happy because he is one player who has spent a lot of time injured; come back in two games at home and scored two goals - it is important for us and for him."
Meanwhile, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was downbeat at the final whistle, saying his side 'let control of the game slip'.
He said: "We’ve had the perfect start - the early goal - and from that point, we were looking to consolidate that and really control the game and I thought we threatened to do it.
“We just let control of the game slip and unfortunately the second half of the game was tough to watch.
He continued: "We started really brightly, controlling the game and had really good possession, we looked like we were going to hurt them as well. But we just let that control slip with some poor technical mistakes from our perspective then of course the goals changed the flow of the game.”
“The away form hasn’t been as solid as last year where we were very good on the road, the last game against Swansea we looked a really strong side, but today - for whatever reason - that didn’t happen.”
