Leicester have signed Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu on a five-year deal, subject to a work permit being granted.
Sky Sports News understands the fee could rise to £19m, with the Turkey international agreeing personal terms and passing a medical before the 5pm deadline on Thursday.
Leicester are confident the permit will be granted, but it will take several days to be confirmed. Soyuncu already has endorsement papers from the Turkish FA, but if the permit fails, the deal will be called off and Leicester will pay nothing.
Soyuncu joined Freiburg from Altinordu in 2016 and went on to make 50 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring once.
The 22-year-old has made 15 appearances for Turkey after being called up in November 2015 by then head coach Fatih Terim.
Filip Benkovic also joined Leicester on Deadline Day, and held on to England centre-back Harry Maguire, who was the subject of two bids from Manchester United.
Leicester face United in their opening match of the Premier League season on Friday, live on Sky Sports.
