Riyad Mahrez must show respect to Leicester and his team-mates after missing training five times, says Dennis Wise.
Mahrez has already missed two matches and Puel confirmed the Algeria international will not feature against the Premier League leaders when Leicester visit the Etihad on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Wise, who played for Leicester in 2001, told Premier League Daily: "If I was the manager on the other side looking at the way Mahrez has reacted, I wouldn't bother with him.
"They gave him a chance at Leicester, I think he just has to respect that and I think the way he's gone about himself is not great," Wise added.
A bid for Mahrez amounting to £60m from Manchester City on transfer deadline day was rejected by Leicester, who had received a transfer request from the Algerian.
It was the second time Mahrez had asked to leave the club, following an initial request during the summer transfer window, and Wise feels his actions at present are doing little more than letting people down.
"He's let himself down, his team-mates down, and the people at Leicester down"
