Craig Shakespeare happy with Leicester's point at Huddersfield

Craig Shakespeare praised the resilience of his Leicester team as they came from behind to draw with Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium. 

Huddersfield dominated the first half and took the lead a minute into the second as Laurent Depoitre raced onto an Abdelhamid Sabiri through ball to score clinically past Kasper Schmeichel in goal.

However, Leicester rallied impressively and drew level a matter of minutes later when Jamie Vardy slammed home a penalty after Andy King had been fouled by Chris Lowe in the penalty area.

Both sides had their opportunities to win it as the game wore on but Shakespeare admitted that he would have taken a draw.

"I think we have to look at it as a good point, I thought we were second best in the first half and if you'd offered me a point at half-time I would have taken it," he said post-match.

"We created more chances in the second half but I have to give credit to Huddersfield, they did to us what we normally do to teams.

"A lot of our players were off the pace today but ultimately the players showed a lot of resilience to stay in there.

"I think we've played better this season and got nothing but sometimes that happens. As a team collectively we have to be pleased with the point."

The result means that Leicester have now picked up just one win from their last eight Premier League matches having won seven of their previous 10 league fixtures before that.

However, Shakespeare will be pleased that his side managed to bounce back from their defeat to Chelsea last weekend and move clear of the relegation zone.
