Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare admitted he felt his side were "hard done by" over the penalty that proved decisive in their Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann's controversial first-half spot-kick handed Atletico a 1-0 win at the Vicente Calderon but replays showed the France striker was fouled outside the box by Marc Albrighton.
Shakespeare voiced his disappointment at the decision but insisted his side remained firmly in the tie, ahead of next week's decider at the King Power Stadium.
"I think we were hard done by," he said. "It's a real disappointment. It's a key moment in the game. He has to get that one right. You can't guess on those ones. It's a free-kick, it's a definite free-kick, it's outside the box.
"The referee has a hard job. We know that. But it's the key decisions that you want correct.
"Of course we're still alive. We know we still have a challenge ahead against a very good team. We know it's going to be a very difficult return match.
"We have a very good home record at the King Power, our fans enjoy these Champions League nights. We have to create more chances, we have to attack more than we did but we are aware of what we have got to do in the second leg.
"We've got to be more open and attack because we need a goal and one of Atletico Madrid's strengths is counter-attack, but we're still in this tie."
A tactical change that saw Wilfred Ndidi drop deeper helped to limit Griezmann's threat after the break but Shakespeare praised his side's commitment from the off.
"We knew it was going to be a frantic start, but we grew into the game," he said. "We had to change it at half-time tactically; Griezmann was getting too much space between the lines but I thought in terms of effort and endeavour we were excellent.
"Their team ethic is exceptional but we were ready for that challenge."
Robert Huth will miss next Tuesday's decider after a foul on Griezmann drew a yellow card but Shakespeare revealed Wes Morgan, who missed the first leg with a back problem, could return for selection.
"Obviously it's a blow [losing Huth]," he added. "We had quite a few players on yellow cards, we knew it was a tightrope.
"Wes Morgan has been out on the grass the past few days. We know it'll be touch and go, but hopefully he is fit."
