Riyad Mahrez picked up from where he left off last season with a stunning goal for Leicester City in their penalty shoot-out win over Celtic on Saturday.
The Foxes winger opened the scoring in the International Champions Cup encounter at Celtic Park with a trademark finish, cutting inside before picking out the top corner.
Reports in the British and French press have linked Mahrez with a move to Arsenal, but after the game Ranieri said he remains confident the Algeria international will stay at the King Power Stadium.
The 2015/16 PFA Players' Player of the Year scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists as Leicester won the Premier League trophy last season.
They opened preparations for their title defence with a 2-1 victory over Oxford United on Tuesday, but Saturday's fixture against Celtic marked the start of a run of glamour ties for Ranieri's men.
They face Paris Saint-Germain next Saturday in California before taking on Barcelona in Stockholm four days later.
After that, they head to Wembley to take on Manchester United in the Community Shield.
