Leicester are "getting close" to a stunning Premier League title after winning at Crystal Palace, Riyad Mahrez says.

The Algerian was City's match-winner for the second time in three games as a third straight 1-0 win opened up an eight-point lead at the top on an idle day for nearest challengers Tottenham.

The 'one game at a time' mantra from Claudio Ranieri and his players has remained the same throughout Leicester's incredible season, but there was a hint from Mahrez at Selhurst Park that a 5000-1 upset is now genuinely within reach.

"It's getting close," said the winger before reverting to more cautious type. "But there's still seven matches to go, and it's a long way. We need to keep focused on our team and we will see what we can do.

"The game was very difficult. It was a very good win. We are eight points clear, but Tottenham are still to play."

Mahrez finished Jamie Vardy's centre to score the only goal at Palace minutes after he had failed with a one-on-one chance.
