Coventry City will wear a one-off strip based on their 1987 FA Cup final kit for the League Two play-off final against Exeter on May 28.
The decision comes after the club announced they had run out of this season's home kit - the play-off shirt will be a one off.
The club say when they realised they were low on kit, they checked with the club shop but found there were not enough replica shirts left as it was near the end of the season.
A club statement read: "Due to the incredible popularity of the home shirt this season, and use of club stock through playing requirements and charitable donations, it has been necessary to commission this new traditional striped shirt for the play-off final - which we hope will prove popular with supporters.
"We were unable to order the current 2017/18 home shirt due to the large minimum order numbers which exist, and the lead times involved."
Dave Boddy, Coventry City chief executive, added: "The striped kit is one with much history, especially at Wembley, for the Sky Blues and we hope it will prove popular with supporters."
