Norwich manager Alex Neil felt his side missed another opportunity to exit the drop zone following their 1-0 defeat by Swansea on Saturday.

Neil's side are without a win in 10 games in all competitions, having lost nine of those, and sit 18th in the Premier League, a point from safety.

The Scot had no excuses for the defeat, consigned by Gylfi Sigurdsson's second-half strike at the Liberty Stadium.

Asked if it felt like a missed opportunity, Neil told Sky Sports: "It's felt that way for the last few matches. I'm not going to stand here and make excuses.

"We didn't take the opportunities we had and unfortunately Swansea manager to go and score a goal. I was really disappointed [with the goal]. I felt up until that point Swansea hadn't really created anything.

Swansea moved nine points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Norwich

"Other than the goal I think they had the free-kick from Sigurdsson where John [Ruddy] makes a good save. Other than that I can't remember too much in terms of a threat on our goal. I'm really disappointed.

"It was a straight match-up all over the pitch and you could see from both sets of players how hard they worked and how much it meant to them. But once again we find ourselves on the wrong end of the result."

Soccer Saturday reaction: Swansea 1-0 Norwich

Norwich, promoted to the Premier League last season through the play-offs, face Manchester City at Carrow Road next, and Neil is desperate to give the fans something to cheer about.

"They've been great. I'm just disappointed we couldn't give them anything to shout about in terms of the result but we've got nine games left and we need to keep fighting.

"The good thing is we're still in there although our run of form has been poor. We've still got teams next to us and if we can pick up, hopefully we can get ourselves out of it."
