Norwich have signed Coventry midfielder James Maddison.

The 19-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, and will be loaned back to the League One club for the rest of the season.

Maddison has scored four goals in 10 starts for Coventry, and Norwich boss Alex Neil said: "We're delighted to sign James as he is a fantastic prospect who has already made a mark at Coventry at such a young age.

"He has real potential to develop, making this deal one we're really pleased to get over the line."

Maddison said: "I've been working hard towards achieving this goal and I'm delighted to be signing for a club the size and stature of Norwich.

"They are a club moving in the right direction and I'm looking forward to progressing my career there after finishing this season at Coventry."

The fee is undisclosed, but Coventry vice-chairman Chris Anderson said: "The deal provides a level of revenue which will help the club grow in the future to build a successful squad beyond the rest of this season.

"It was imperative from both the club's and James' perspective that he see out the rest of the season with us and help us in our push for promotion."

Coventry, meanwhile, have signed centre-back Baily Cargill on loan from Bournemouth until the summer.
