Alex Whitmore leaves Burnley for Chesterfield while Blackpool loan Daniel Agyei

Burnley defender Alex Whitmore has joined Chesterfield on a permanent deal while young striker Daniel Agyei has signed for Blackpool on loan.

Whitmore has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Sky Bet League Two strugglers, who are only one point outside the relegation zone and battling for their EFL lives.

He spent a spell on loan with Morecambe last season and spent the first half of this campaign at Bury, where he made 11 appearances.

Agyei will spend the rest of the season on loan at Bloomfield Road, having recently returned from a spell with Walsall.

Blackpool sit 16th in League One, and their manager Gary Bowyer said: "Huge thanks, first and foremost, to Sean Dyche and Burnley for allowing it to happen. I'm absolutely delighted to bring Dan in.
