Robbie Brady would be a "brilliant" signing for Burnley, according to Clarets midfielder Jeff Hendrick.

Brady has asked Norwich to allow him to leave should they receive an acceptable offer, and Press Association Sport understand that Burnley have tabled £13m for the winger.

Sky sources reported on January 5 that Premier League champions Leicester were considering a move for Brady should Jeffrey Schlupp leave, and Schlupp has since joined Crystal Palace.

But Hendrick wants his Republic of Ireland team-mate, who played junior football with him in their home town of Dublin, to reject any overtures from Leicester and join him at Turf Moor.

He said: "For me personally it would be brilliant to have another friend here and I think he would help the squad as well.

"I text him a lot and talk to him every few days - I have known him since the age of seven - so we have a lot of different conversations.

"He is a great player and everyone is saying how well he's done over the previous few years. But at the end of the day the decision is his.
