Crystal Palace's Mamadou Sakho set for 'weeks' out with calf injury

Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho is set for "weeks rather than days" out of action after suffering a calf injury in the draw with Bournemouth.

The centre-back was forced off after 25 minutes of the 2-2 stalemate at Selhurst Park on Saturday and replaced by Scott Dann.

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson said: "I would guess so [that it's a serious one]. Calf strains or calf pulls are normally a question of weeks rather than days.

"He'll be assessed tomorrow. I couldn't possibly give you a timescale. But when I saw him hobbling off like that, having obviously pulled or seriously strained the calf muscle, my experience tells me it's weeks rather than days."

Sakho missed the first part of the campaign after suffering a knee injury whilst on loan at Palace from Liverpool last season.

The France international completed a permanent move to the south London club in the summer, despite the problem, in a deal worth £26m.

Sakho, 27, has since made nine Premier League appearances this season and scored in the win over Stoke last month.
