Crystal Palace have made an £18million bid for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, according to Sky sources.
The south London side have been linked with Liverpool centre-half Mamadou Sakho for much of the summer and despite the Reds defender being their first-choice, Palace have now moved for Manchester City's Mangala as a second option.
Sky sources understand Crystal Palace's bid for Mangala has not been rejected, in spite of reports in the national press, with the Eagles optimistic a deal can be reached after failing in a third bid for Sakho on Tuesday.
Mangala, 26, spent last season on-loan at Valencia and has two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Sky Italy reported earlier this month that Inter Milan were targeting the French international as a replacement for Jeison Murillo who joined Valencia.
Mangala joined Manchester City from Porto in 2015 for £31.8m and has since made 48 Premier League appearances for the club.
