Sam Allardyce has decided to leave Crystal Palace, just a couple of weeks after guiding the south London club to Premier League safety.
Allardyce told Palace owner Steve Parish of his desire to leave the club during a meeting in central London on Tuesday and has said he has "no ambition to take another job" in football in a statement released by the former England manager.

Allardyce is appointed manager of Sunderland, the former Newcastle and West Ham boss taking over from Dutchman Dick Advocaat, who had kept the club up at the end of the previous season. Sunderland were 19th in the Premier League, with just three points from their first eight games of the season. Allardyce sees Sunderland beat Newcastle 3-0 at the Stadium of Light in his second match in charge.
Five successive defeats put Sunderland in the relegation zone with 12 points after 19 matches.
Sunderland start the new year with a 3-1 win over struggling Aston Villa, but lose to Arsenal in the FA Cup.
Sunderland give their survival chances a boost with a 3-0 win at fellow relegation battlers Norwich, which is followed up by draws against both Arsenal and Stoke.
Sunderland come from behind to beat Chelsea 3-2 at the Stadium of Light, which leaves them a point above 18th-placed Newcastle with a game in hand. Everton are then defeated 3-0 to secure their top-flight status and send the Magpies down. The campaign finishes with a 2-2 draw at Watford to make it six games undefeated.
Following England's exit from the European Championships with defeat against Iceland, the Football Association agrees a compensation deal with Sunderland to appoint Allardyce on a two-year deal after Roy Hodgson's decision to stand down.
Allardyce's England reign gets off to a winning start in a World Cup qualifier away to Slovakia, but only after a goal from Adam Lallana deep into stoppage time. It proves to be his one and only match as England manager as Allardyce resigned following just 67 days in the post as The Daily Telegraph released secretly filmed footage of him making controversial remarks about a variety of subjects, including side work and circumventing FA regulations.

Palace secure their place in the Premier League with a 4-0 victory over Hull, who are relegated to the Championship as a result.
The Eagles end the season with a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United but in 14th place, and seven points clear of the relegation zone.
