Alan Pardew says referee Jon Moss failed to give a 'blatant penalty' for his side

Alan Pardew says referee Jon Moss failed to give a "blatant penalty" during Crystal Palace's 3-2 defeat by West Brom at the Hawthorns.

With the score at 3-1 to the Baggies, Gareth McAuley appeared to push Scott Dann in the back as he went up for a header, but Moss waved play on.

West Brom held on to win 3-2, but Pardew, who hasn't seen his side win in the Premier League for 10 games, says Moss got it wrong.

He told Sky Sports: "I think there was a blatant penalty in the second half, the one on Scott Dann was an obvious one.

"He was about to head that in, and he's charged in the back. That's a definite penalty in my opinion.

"I thought [Moss] should have seen that, and when I asked why he didn't give it he said he was distracted by something else, I don't know. I'm disappointed with that."

They now sit just eight points clear of the relegation zone having not won in 2016 in the league, and Pardew admits they have to be careful not to drag themselves into a fight at the bottom.

"Obviously what I said at half-time will stay between those four walls. It wasn't good enough, but we showed second half it wasn't good enough.

"That result puts us under a little bit of pressure, and of course we haven't had a result for a while so that's going to increase, and we have to deal with that.

"We've got to be careful, because the results suggest our form is evidently poor. Luckily we've got a game on Tuesday [away at Sunderland], albeit a tough one.

"We need to get something and settle ourselves down."
