Plymouth Argyle edged a 1-0 League Two win against Newport County thanks to a first goal in green for on-loan Bristol City midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson.
Bakinson scored a fifth minute opener against the club where he spent last season on loan.
The midfielder was at the near post to turn in a pacey cross from George Cooper following a short corner.
County had their chances to level in the half with skipper Joss Labadie firing an early warning shot.
Padraig Amond sent a deflected shot just past the post in the 45th minute as County pressed.
From the corner striker Jamille Matt's goal-bound header was headed off the line by Argyle striker Luke Jephcott.
Jephcott and substitute Joe Edwards both sent long-range efforts just wide of Tom King's goal midway through the second half.
Argyle skipper Gary Sawyer was sent off for a foul on winger Jordan Green after 85 minutes.
Mickey Demetriou's thumping free kick from the edge of the box beat keeper Alex Palmer but crashed off the crossbar.
