Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the permanent signing of loanee Jack Hunt from Crystal Palace, according to Sky sources.

The 25-year-old right-back joined the Owls on a season-long loan in July and has made 21 appearances so far, although he was an unused substitute for the FA Cup win over Fulham on Saturday.

He has clearly impressed boss Carlos Carvalhal with his performances and is now set to make a full-time move to Hillsborough after a transfer fee was agreed between the two clubs.

Hunt joined Palace from Huddersfield in September 2013 but has not made a first-team appearance for the Premier League side.

He was sent out on loan to Barnsley in the second half of the 2013/14 season and had loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Rotherham last term before returning to the Championship with Wednesday this season.
