Stoke midfielder Ramadan Sobhi has been released by the Egypt FA to hold talks and have a medical ahead of a move to Huddersfield Town.

Sobhi played in Egypt's 0-0 draw with Colombia in Italy on Saturday but has been allowed to make a brief return to England to complete his move.

The Egypt FA confirmed: "Ramadan Sobhi is undergoing a medical screening to move to Huddersfield Town and will return (to Italy) this afternoon."

Sobhi joined Stoke from Egyptian champions Al Ahly in 2016 and signed a five-year contract extension last August.

The 21-year-old scored twice and added one assist in 24 Premier League appearances last season.

A move to Huddersfield would allow Sobhi to remain in the Premier League following Stoke's relegation.
