Stoke have signed on-loan goalkeeper Lee Grant on a permanent deal from Derby.
Grant has started 15 Premier League games since he was brought in as cover for the injured Jack Butland at the end of August.
And City have now handed the 33-year-old a two-and-a-half-year contract after agreeing a £1.3m fee with Derby.
The deal appeared in doubt last month when Stoke boss Mark Hughes called on the Championship club to be "sensible" in their asking price for a player who was out of favour at Pride Park.
Hughes said at the time: "We'd like Lee to stay and I think that Lee would love to be a part of the club.
"At the moment, obviously, Derby have the upper hand in terms of negotiation and maybe they just need to come to a little bit more of a sensible conclusion.
"At the moment it is a little bit difficult, so we hope it is going to be resolved. It needs to be for all three parties, really: Derby, ourselves and Lee, more importantly."
Stoke also have 40-year-old Shay Given and Dane Jakob Haugaard on their books, but Grant has established himself as No 1 in Butland's absence.
