Phil Bardsley says he is in no hurry to leave Stoke despite playing just one Premier League match this season.

The Scotland international has lost his place in Mark Hughes' side to Glen Johnson following his summer arrival from Liverpool.

Bardsley has been limited to just four outings - three of them in the Capital One Cup - but was sent off in his last appearance against Chelsea last month.

The 30-year-old admits he is frustrated at his lack of games but is willing to be patient and wait for a chance to come back in the team at the Britannia Stadium.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "Glen has come in and he's had a terrific start. Everyone knows how good a player he is.

"He's played so many times for England and been at top clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham throughout his career. It's up to me to keep the pressure on him.

"It's difficult at the minute as the team's doing so well but I need to keep working hard and hopefully I'll come into the manager's thoughts in the near future.

"I've had a chat with the manager and going out on loan or leaving has not come into the conversation quite yet.

"It's frustrating when you're not playing but the team are doing fantastically at the minute and it's all about being patient and waiting for your opportunity.

"We'll take it day by day and I'll try to train as hard as I possibly can, which I try to do every day. Hopefully a chance will come. If not, we'll assess the situation and see where they go from there."
