Premier League: Ronald Koeman disappointed Southampton failed to beat 10-man West Ham
Thursday 12 February 2015 08:30, UK
Ronald Koeman expressed his frustration that his players were unable to take all three points after playing against a 10-man West Ham for 30 minutes.
The game was still goalless when Hammers goalkeeper Adrian was sent off for handling the ball outside of the area, and despite being in control for the majority of the game the home side couldn’t convert any of their chances.
Koeman said: “If you get the chance to play 25 minutes with 11 against 10 then you expect to win the game. But then I think you have to play more clever than we did in the last part of the game.”
Graziano Pelle had four shots on target, two of which were saved by substitute goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen. The former Finland international also pulled off a save at his right-hand post from Saints captain Jose Fonte moments before the final whistle.
On the positive side, Koeman saw Filip Duricic make his first appearance for the club after joining from Benfica on loan.

He added: “Yeah, he is another alternative. He can play on the right and left, or another offensive position. Sometimes you try to have the luck on your side to make changes in the team but it isn’t enough.”
The south coast club remain in the Champions League places, sitting fourth on equal points with Arsenal.
