Southampton are angry at the Football Association's decision to overturn the red card shown to Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, Sky Sports News understands.
Egypt international Elneny was sent off by referee Andre Marriner during the bad-tempered closing minutes of Arsenal's 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The FA rescinded the three-match ban handed to Elneny on Tuesday despite Southampton believing him to be guilty of raising his arms in an added-time altercation with Cedric Soares.
"Mohamed Elneny will be available for Arsenal's next three games after an Independent Regulatory Commission accepted that he was wrongly dismissed for violent conduct against Southampton on Sunday, April 8, 2018," read Tuesday's statement from the FA.
Southampton's anger has been compounded by the knowledge that defender Jack Stephens - sent off a minute earlier - will have to serve a three-match ban for violent conduct.
Stephens will miss vital Premier League games against Chelsea and Leicester and will also have to sit on the sidelines when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Sky Sports News also understands the club also feel aggrieved about the lack of disciplinary action given to another Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Southampton feel Wilshere was the root cause of the incident which saw Stephens dismissed for his reaction, but the England midfielder was only shown a yellow card by Marriner.
