Southampton boss Claude Puel frustrated by draw against Sunderland

Claude Puel admitted he was disappointed at Southampton's failure to secure their first win of the Premier League season after their 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
Jermain Defoe's penalty gave Sunderland the lead on the 80th minute, before Southampton substitute Jay Rodriguez equalised four minutes later to seal the Saints' second draw of the season.
The home side had created more goal-scoring opportunities, but were denied by a string of impressive saves by Jordan Pickford, and Puel said he was frustrated that his team's efforts were not rewarded with a victory.
"It's disappointment this afternoon. We had many possibilities to score," Puel told Sky Sports.
"We [were losing] 1-0 but it was important for the players. They showed good character and spirit to equalise. This is very important for the future.

"It's important to continue to work and be rewarded for all the good things we see on the pitch.
"We have a good team with good players and good character. I think we lost two points this afternoon."
Southampton's next game is away at Arsenal on September 10th after the international break, and Puel said he is hoping to bring in some new signings before the transfer window closes.
Lille's Sofiane Boufal is set to have a medical on Sunday and Puel said: "There's a possibility to have one or two players to give the squad energy."
