Ronald Koeman says he's disappointed Southampton only came away from Goodison Park with a draw

Ronald Koeman says he's disappointed Southampton only came away from Goodison Park with a point following their 1-1 draw with Everton.

The Saints were the better side on Saturday, but fell behind to Ramiro Funes Mori's 68th-minute strike before equalising through Sadio Mane eight minutes later.

"I'm very disappointed because we had more quality on the pitch," Koeman told Sky Sports. "Everton made a lot of changes and we had to do more. We lost a big opportunity in the first half to score the goal and win the game.

"We had more ball possession, we had more shots on target... you expect to be more dangerous than we showed in the first half.

"We need to be more productive in the final part of attacking. Before half-time [we had] two free shots in the box and we don't shoot on target, and they were really good chances to score.

"It was a good reaction at 1-0 down, but it's one point and at this stage in the league it's not enough."

Koeman, meanwhile, had no updates on captain Jose Fonte, who was forced off in the first half with suspected concussion.

"There is no news at the moment," added Koeman. "Jose is at the hospital, we have to wait [and see] what happens."
