Sadio Mane is unlikely to receive further punishment after arriving late to a Southampton team meeting, according to Sky sources.
The 23-year-old winger, whom newspapers have once again reported is of interest to Manchester United in the current transfer window, was left out of the starting line-up for the 1-0 defeat at Norwich on Saturday.
He appeared as an 80th-minute substitute, and Sky Sports News HQ understands Saints feel his demotion to the bench was punishment enough, and he will continue with normal post-match protocol of having a day off on Sunday.
But after the match at Carrow Road, head coach Ronald Koeman seethed at Mane's behaviour.
"To change the team two hours before the game, because one player is coming late to the last meeting before the game, it is not that professional," he said.
"It is not what we expect from the players of Southampton. We have rules and I think that is respectful to everybody.
"I am not a manager who has 100,000 rules that happen on a daily basis but, yes, if you are late for the meeting, close to the game, then you don't really have focus and concentration to your team, to the club and to the fans.
"It's a big decision to make but I have to do it. I like to be straight to everyone at the club and, if I don't, then I can't continue like a manager."
Southampton had a similar situation with Mane last summer when the forward was the subject of a bid from Manchester United.
