Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo and Phil Parkinson of Bolton have both been charged by the Football Association following their touchline clash at Molineux on November 25.
The rival managers came together just before half-time following a challenge by David Wheater on Diogo Jota.
Both men were sent to the stands and have until 6pm on Monday, December 4 to respond to the charge.
Nuno, whose side went on to win 5-1, said: "It is something that happens every week in football. There is a tackle, I think it is tough, and I reacted to it. There is an argument. Nothing more than that. The referee told us to go.
"Both of us were doing our jobs the best way we can for our teams. The ref spoke with us, we were totally calm.
"I speak [after the game] with Phil, we had a good conversation and we sorted it out. We are grown-up men and we solved the issue."
It was a second dismissal of the season for Parkinson, who was also sent off against Sheffield Wednesday.
He said: "We had an argument, but that happens every single week.
"I said to the fourth official that if managers are going to get sent off for having an argument then there will be no managers left in the dugout."
