West Brom have sacked technical director Nick Hammond with immediate effect, as part of their restructuring plan for the club..
Sky sources understand that Albion's new chief executive officer Mark Jenkins has decided that Hammond should leave his post after a poor season that saw Alan Pardew sacked, and the club in serious danger of relegation.
Hammond was a key figure in bringing long-term friend Pardew to the club following the sacking of previous manager Tony Pulis.
Hammond joined Albion in April 2016 from Reading, where he worked with Pardew as director of footbal, and was in charge of player recruitment at the club overseeing the spending of over more than £40m on transfers during the summer.
He was responsible for breaking the club's transfer record, spending £15m on Scottish winger Oliver Burke form RB Leipzig, but the 21-year old has struggled to make the first team at Albion.
Albion CEO Jenkins said: "We would like to place on record our gratitude for Nick's efforts during his two years in the role and wish him every success for his future."
Hammond added: "West Bromwich Albion are a great football club which I was honoured to be a part of, great people, great supporters. I wish them every success going forward as I move on to future projects."
West Brom will be relegated on Sunday if they lose to Manchester United at Old Trafford and results the previous day go against them.
