Gary Megson was tight-lipped on reports Alan Pardew was set to take over at The Hawthorns following his side's 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Tuesday night.
The former Newcastle and Crystal Palace manager is expected to be announced as the permanent successor to Tony Pulis on Wednesday, but Megson was unable to shed any light on those stories in his post-match interview.
"Not really! I do not know," he said when asked if he knew whether Pardew was on the verge of becoming the new Baggies coach.

"The chairman [John Williams] has come down and he always does and said he wants to have a natter at 10am tomorrow (Wednesday), so I will tell you the truth about what he said and that is it and as far as I know.
"No, but I would not expect him to (tell him if he will still be in charge for the club's next game) as that is the club's business. I am fully aware of what I read in the press, but when it actually comes from the horse's mouth, it will actually mean something.
"So I am in the same position as everybody else. All I can do is what I have done so far."
As for the match itself, Megson was disappointed with how West Brom threw away a two-goal lead and in particular the nature of the goals his side conceded.
The home team appeared to be cruising to a first Premier League win since August thanks to goals either side of half-time from Hal Robson-Kanu and youngster Sam Field.
However, Newcastle responded by scoring twice in the final half an hour, with both their efforts coming from set plays.
"One of disappointment as 2-0 up, we were not exactly cruising, but maybe the effects of the last half an hour against Spurs started to take its toll," he said.
"And we were playing with 10 men for the last 15 with Matty Phillips injured, but there were about five or six players we needed to change at the end. But we did not have enough subs for that.
"Once that happens, if we keep it tight for 10-15 minutes, there would be an appreciation from them that we are not getting anywhere. But that gave them huge momentum.
"And the disappointing thing was the manner of their goals - we have scored two good, well-worked goals, and we supposed to be a big side that is good at crosses. And we conceded from that and they were awful goals for us to give away.
"And you can imagine the level of disappointment that is now in there, but we have to pick ourselves up and go again on Thursday morning when they come back in.
"The huge disappointment for me and everybody is that is eight points we have now given away from winning positions and not when we were handing on, games we should win. And we would now be sitting on 20 points, rather than the 12 we have got."
