Tony Pulis is hopeful of improving his West Brom side before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
Speaking after West Brom's 1-1 draw against Stoke, Pulis said he knew the names of "two or three" players in specific areas that the club are targeting.
Pulis also said he is hoping Jonny Evans remains at the Hawthorns, despite interest from Manchester City.
"Chairman has just come in, and we're hoping we can bring the players in to improve the group. And the group, as you've seen today without Evans, Chadli, McAuley, we've got important players missing so these lads have done absolutely fantastic.
"We know the specific areas we want, and we know two or three of the players as well."
Evans said in his programme notes: "Until anybody tells me different, I'm only committed to Albion and I'm only thinking about getting in this team. It's a great club and and I'm proud to be captain."
When asked about the defender, Pulis said: "Hopefully he will remain with us."
After Mark Hughes said after the game that his sides almost always seem to get low quality games at the Hawthorns, Pulis simply stated his record over his former side since leaving in 2013.
"What's that, eight or nine games now I've managed against Stoke and they still haven't beaten us. We're pleased we've got seven points from the game we've played.
"If we hadn't made that mistake it would be nine. It's been a great start for this football club."
