Tony Pulis disappointed with timing of goals after West Brom's defeat at Everton

Tony Pulis felt the timing of Everton's first two goals killed the game for West Brom after their 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

Kevin Mirallas opened the scoring after 39 minutes on Saturday and Morgan Schneiderlin doubled Everton's advantage in first-half stoppage time.

Romelu Lukaku's header wrapped up the victory in the closing stages but Pulis said his team were unfortunate to go in at the break two goals down.

"We are disappointed," the West Brom head coach said. "The two goals before half-time killed the game for us.

"Up to that point we were well in the game. Even in the second half, apart from the shot that hit the post late on, I don't think Ben [Foster] has had a shot to save.

"We are disappointed but they have real quality. [Ross] Barkley and Lukaku were outstanding. The final third was the difference.

"The timing of the goals, especially the second one. The first one was really disappointing but the second one before the break kills you. To be coming in two goals down at half-time, we didn't deserve that."

The Baggies remain eighth after the defeat and Pulis refused to be too harsh on his side, who welcome Arsenal to The Hawthorns next Saturday live on Sky Sports.

"The lads have had a right go today and they are disappointed," Pulis added. "You look at the scoreline and think it has been a stroll in the park but it was anything but.

"They have worked their socks off as they always do. They are a great group of lads and they do work hard.

"Goals change games and those two goals knocked the stuffing out of us and knocked the stuffing out of the game."
